LPG hoarding, black marketing: Government introduces new allocation system
To keep a check on LPG hoarding and black marketing, the government has decided that oil marketing companies will allocate an amount equal to 20% of the average monthly commercial LPG requirement to commercial users.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri shared this update in Parliament, saying it's all about making sure everyone gets fair access, especially when supplies run tight.
Domestic LPG production ramped up by 25%
A special committee with members from major oil companies is teaming up with states to make sure critical places like hospitals and schools don't run out of LPG.
To handle import hiccups, domestic LPG production has been ramped up by 25%, and you can now book your next cylinder after 25 days instead of 21 days.
The government's also pitching in ₹30,000 crore to help oil companies manage higher costs — all part of a bigger plan to keep the market steady and avoid panic buying.
