Maharashtra FDA seizes 67.2cr food, suspends 404 licenses statewide

Maharashtra's FDA just wrapped up a massive statewide drive, seizing food items worth ₹67.2 crore between June and August 2026.
That haul included milk and dairy products valued at ₹5.4 crore and prohibited products worth ₹19.62 crore.
The crackdown led to 404 licenses suspended, 4,321 improvement notices issued, 644 FIRs filed, and 867 arrests, showing the FDA is serious about keeping unsafe food off shelves.
Pune division leads 4,261 inspections
The FDA checked 9,485 spots across the state, with Pune division leading the way at 4,261 inspections. Konkan and Greater Mumbai followed close behind.
Inspectors found banned items at 795 places, resulting in 483 shops sealed and 110 vehicles seized.
