Main accused in Hathras murder case arrested
Kalpita Sharma, daughter of the Hathras District Magistrate's driver, was shot and killed near Sadar tehsil gate on June 14 while heading home with her mother.
Two men on a bike stopped them and opened fire.
Kalpita's mother recognized one attacker as someone familiar to their family and believed the murder was tied to a domestic dispute involving her daughter-in-law's partner.
Five teams were set up to hunt for the suspects
Police quickly registered a murder case and set up five teams, including the Special Operations Group, to hunt for those involved.
Three suspects were picked up early on, but the main accused—Naveen—managed to escape despite a ₹1 lakh reward on Gulshan alias Lukka's head.
He was finally found near Ahbaranpur Road after an encounter with police left both him and a constable injured.
All four accused are now in custody, and police say a charge sheet will be filed soon.
