Gang supplying China, Turkey-made weapons to India via Pakistan nabbed
What's the story
The Delhi Police has busted a major international illegal arms racket, which was supplying weapons made in China and Turkey to notorious gangs. The operation was reportedly run by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The gangs involved include the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Bambiha gang, and Gogi Himanshu Bhai's group. According to NDTV, the police recovered 10 high-end, foreign-made pistols and 92 cartridges during the raid in Rohini.
Smuggling route
Weapons smuggled via Punjab using drones
The illegal arms racket used drones to smuggle consignments into India through Punjab. From there, the weapons were supplied to various gangs operating in Delhi and its neighboring states. The police acted on a tip-off about smugglers arriving in Delhi with these weapons, leading to the raids in Rohini. Four people have been arrested in connection with this case so far.
Arrest details
Accused individuals from Punjab and Uttar Pradesh
The four accused arrested by the Delhi Police are residents of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. They were found in possession of a large consignment of weapons, including high-end pistols. The police had received a tip-off about smugglers arriving in Delhi to supply these weapons, which led to the raids in the Rohini area. Further investigations are expected to dismantle the entire network involved in this illegal arms trade.
