Malayalam rapper Vedan's song featured in university syllabus
Calicut University just made a cool move—Malayalam degree students will now study rapper Vedan's popular track "Bhoomi njan vaazhunna idam" as part of their third-semester syllabus. The song will be explored in a comparative literature module alongside Michael Jackson's "They Don't Care About Us," starting this academic year.

M S Ajith, who heads the Board of Studies, says this optional paper is open to students from different backgrounds. Even though Vedan recently faced legal trouble, his music clearly still strikes a chord with Kerala's youth, and its inclusion shows how universities are embracing contemporary voices in the classroom.
