    JeM chief Masood Azhar's nephew killed in encounter, soldier martyred

    JeM chief Masood Azhar's nephew killed in encounter, soldier martyred

    JeM chief Masood Azhar's nephew Talha Rasheed, an A++ category terrorist, was neutralized in an encounter in J&K's Pulwama yesterday. Two other terrorists identified as Mehmood Bhai and Wasim Ahmed Ganai were also eliminated. A 44 Rashtriya Rifles soldier was martyred. Two others as well as a civilian sustained injuries. These terrorists were wanted for an attack on a police check post in Rajpora.

    What happened?

    The encounter broke out in Aglar Kandi area last evening when joint teams of the army's 44 RR, J&K Police's Special Operations Group and the CRPF received intel about presence of militants. As security personnel cordoned off the area, the hiding terrorists opened fire on them and a gunfight broke out. Forces later recovered an AK, an M16 rifle, a pistol and ammunition.

    Several top terrorists killed in Kashmir in recent times

    Security forces have neutralized several top terrorists in Kashmir in recent times, including Lashkar-e-Taiba's Abu Dujana, Bashir Wani, Abu Ismail and Waseem Shah; Hizbul Mujahideen's Sabzar Bhat and Jaish-e-Mohammed's Abu Khalid. Other top terrorists on their radar now include Al-Qaeda's Zakir Musa, Hizbul Mujahideen's Riyaz Naikoo and Saddam Padder, and Lashkar-e-Taiba's Zeenat-ul-Islam.
