MDMA detected in 2 students after Mumbai concert deaths
Toxicology reports have confirmed the presence of MDMA (ecstasy) in Shreya Rai and Sheetal Salvi, second-year MBA students at a South Mumbai management institute, who died after a packed music concert in Mumbai in April 2026.
Both had reported feeling unwell during the event, and sadly, a third student from the same institute, Bismat Singh Amarjit Singh Bhasin, 28, also passed away after similar symptoms.
Culpable homicide case names 10 people
Police have now registered a case of culpable homicide along with relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, naming 10 people, including event staff and suspected drug suppliers.
Investigators believe the MDMA was smuggled into India by an alleged international supply chain hiding pills in paint containers.
Eight suspects are in judicial custody; two are still on the run.
