Mekedatu dam: SC says Tamil Nadu's challenge 'premature'

The Supreme Court has told Tamil Nadu that its challenge to Karnataka's Mekedatu dam project is "premature" since the project's Detailed Report is still being reviewed by water authorities.
Chief Justice B.R. Gavai explained that nothing can move forward until both the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) and the Regulation Committee (CWRC) give their green light.

Court asks Karnataka to keep releasing Cauvery water

Tamil Nadu worries the dam could break past water-sharing agreements, while Karnataka insists it won't affect anyone's share.
The court made it clear: if the report gets approved, Tamil Nadu can take legal action then.
For now, Karnataka must keep releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as usual.
