Minor fire breaks out at Tamil Nadu hospital
India
A minor fire broke out on Sunday night (September 28, 2025) at the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu.
Smoke started coming from an AC unit in a doctor's cabin on the third floor around 8:30pm prompting staff nurses and non-medical staff to evacuate quickly.
Thankfully, everyone got out safely and no one was hurt.
Cause of fire being investigated
The hospital cut power to the floor right away as firefighters and police rushed to the scene.
Station Fire Officer D Mani shared that while the fire was limited to the AC duct, thick smoke filled the cabin—but they managed to put it out within 30 minutes.
Early investigation points to an electrical short circuit as the likely cause, and police have registered a case.
