After nearly four decades apart, Vivek Chakraborty finally reconnected with his family—all thanks to a routine voter list update in Purulia, West Bengal.
Vivek had been missing since 1988, but his brother Pradip, who works as a Booth Level Officer, included his contact info on every SIR form in their village.
That small detail set off an unexpected chain of events.

How a voter call led to the reunion

When someone from Kolkata called Pradip for help with voter paperwork, their conversation uncovered long-lost family ties—the caller was actually Pradip's nephew.
The brothers spoke for the first time in 37 years.
Now planning to return home soon, Vivek said, "I thank the Election Commission because without the SIR process, this reunion would never have happened."
