Monsoon arrives early, unleashes havoc in hill states

The southwest monsoon has arrived across India eight days ahead of schedule, according to the IMD.
Delhi and western Rajasthan saw rain by June 29, with June's rainfall already 8% above average.
But this early downpour has also led to landslides and flash floods in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, causing major travel headaches.

TL;DR

More rain on the way

More rain is on the way for eastern states like Odisha and Jharkhand thanks to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
The IMD has issued orange and yellow alerts for several regions due to possible flooding.
While farmers are getting a boost for their kharif crops from all this extra rain, authorities are staying alert to keep people safe during what could be an intense monsoon season.
