Most Indian banks will close April 1 for annual closing
India
Heads up: Most banks across India will be shut on April 1 for their yearly account closing as the new financial year kicks off.
In most states, you will not be able to visit a branch, but ATMs and UPI payments will work just fine.
If you are in Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, or Himachal Pradesh, though, your local banks are staying open.
Check bank holiday list before visiting
April has got a few more days when banking takes a break: look out for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, and Tamil New Year's Day.
Plus, banks will close on the second and fourth Saturdays this month (but stay open on other Saturdays unless told otherwise).
So if you need to visit a branch in person, it is worth checking the holiday list before you go!
