Mumbai: LPG cylinder blast injures 3 in Goregaon West

India

An LPG cylinder exploded early Wednesday at Rajaram Chawl in Goregaon West, Mumbai, leaving three people injured and a shared wall collapsed.
The fire that followed was quickly put out by neighbors using buckets of water—well before firefighters got there.

What happened to those injured?

Three people were hurt: Maltidevi (28) suffered serious burns and was shifted to Sion Hospital; Sarjan Ali Javed Shaikh (37) has leg injuries but is stable in ICU; Gul Mohammad Amin Shaikh (38) is in critical condition with back injuries.
Locals rushed all of them to hospitals right after the blast.

Why this matters

This could have been much worse, but quick action from residents kept things under control.
Civic officials confirmed it was an LPG cylinder accident, and thankfully, no other casualties were reported.
It's a reminder to always be careful with gas cylinders—and how community support can make a real difference during emergencies.
