Mumbai resident doctors withdraw protest over BHMS with CCMP registration
Mumbai's resident doctors have withdrawn their protest after the Bombay High Court asked them to work things out with the state government.
The protest was over the government's move to let certain homeopathy graduates (BHMS with CCMP) register as doctors, which BMC MARD and the Indian Medical Association opposed.
BMC MARD stands down, retains rights
BMC MARD said they are standing down out of respect for the court but are not dropping their concerns or legal rights. Regular hospital services are back on track.
Meanwhile, the High Court reminded everyone that strikes can risk lives: "a patient who dies during a strike cannot be brought back," Acting Chief Justice Ghuge said.
The state will set up a special committee that will frame SOPs regarding the issue, and the matter is listed for its next hearing on September 8.
