Mumbai-Thane travel about to get way faster with new elevated freeway

India

Mumbai's daily commute is getting a serious upgrade: the MMRDA has started work on a 13.9-km Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension, set to slash travel time between South Mumbai and Thane to just 25-30 minutes.
The six-lane road is designed to finally ease the jam-packed Eastern Express Highway and make life easier for commuters.

What makes this project stand out?

The freeway will have ramps at key spots like Mulund Check Naka, Airoli Junction, and Vikhroli Junction, plus a big toll plaza near Navghar Flyover—all aimed at keeping traffic flowing smoothly.
MMRDA is also making sure the environment doesn't take a back seat: they've tweaked the route to save 127 Pink Trumpet trees and will plant over 4,000 new ones as part of their green push.
Construction is already underway, so faster (and greener) commutes aren't too far off!
