Nashra Naim elected 1st woman VP of AMU Students Union
Big moment at Aligarh Muslim University: Nashra Naim just became the first woman ever elected as vice president of the Students's Union, a post that's been around for 105 years.
She won by a solid margin, and her victory is part of a bigger trend this year, with women taking six out of 13 student leadership spots.
This election also marked AMU's return to student polls after eight years, following a stretch of intense campus protests.
Gen Z activism strengthens student voice
AMU's vice chancellor, Prof. Naima Khatoon, hailed the "peaceful conduct of the elections" and praised how smoothly and peacefully everything went.
The vibe on campus was shaped by Gen Z activism, with students pushing conversations beyond university walls to national issues affecting Muslims, showing that student voices are getting stronger and more inclusive than ever.
