Nearly 87 million young Indians aged 15 to 29 inactive
India
Turns out, nearly 87 million young Indians (ages 15 to 29) aren't in school, college, or any job right now (about 11% of this age group).
Most are tied up with household duties, which makes it tough to pick up new skills or step into the workforce.
NITI Aayog calls for youth support
NITI Aayog's report says money problems and rigid training options are big barriers for youth wanting to study or work, especially for women.
Only 3% of women have formal jobs; most are either doing informal work or not working at all due to caregiving duties and safety concerns.
The report calls for urgent action: more flexible skill programs, trusted local spaces, and financial support so young people can actually access opportunities.
