NEET PG 2025 cut-off slashed, now as low as -40 for some categories
NBEMS has dropped NEET PG 2025 qualifying percentiles for Round 3 and beyond, following a Health Ministry directive.
Now, SC/ST/OBC candidates can qualify with a score as low as -40 out of 800.
For unreserved candidates, the new cut-off is the 7th percentile (at least 103 marks), while unreserved PwBD need just the 5th percentile (90 marks).
Why does this matter?
Over 18,000 postgraduate medical seats were still empty after two rounds of counseling—so these changes aim to fill those gaps.
While some groups like FAIMA called the move "unprecedented and illogical," FORDA described it as "an unprecedented move" that undermines merit, others like the Indian Medical Association see it as a way to strengthen hospitals by filling more seats.
No matter what, admissions will still be rank-based through official counseling—so your exam rank remains key.
