NEET UG 2024 paper leak: CBI files 2nd charge sheet
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a second charge sheet in the Special Court for CBI cases in Patna, naming six people linked to the NEET UG 2024 question paper leak case. The accused include Baldev Kumar alias Chintu, Sunny Kumar, Dr. Ahsanul Haque (Principal of Oasis School), Md. Imtiyaz Alam (Vice-Principal of Oasis School), Jamaluddin alias Jamal (a reporter), and Aman Kumar Singh.
School officials implicated in NEET UG 2024 paper leak
The investigation revealed that Dr. Haque, in his role as City Coordinator for Hazaribagh, and Alam, the Centre Superintendent for the NEET UG 2024 exam, conspired with other accused to steal the question paper. The charge sheet has been filed under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy), Section 109 (Abetment), Section 409 (Criminal Breach of Trust), Section 420 (Cheating), Section 380 (Theft).
Corruption charges against school officials
Additionally, substantive charges have been invoked under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) against the Oasis School's Principal and Vice-Principal. These individuals were appointed by NTA for conduct of NEET UG-2024 examination. This development follows an earlier charge sheet filed by the CBI on August 1, which implicated 13 individuals in the same case.
Ongoing investigation
To date, 48 individuals have been arrested in connection with the NEET Paper leak case. The CBI has also identified beneficiary candidates of this paper leak and shared their details with the National Testing Agency for necessary action. The investigation regarding remaining arrested accused and other aspects is still ongoing.
