NMC lets MBBS colleges admit more students till 2027

Big update for future doctors: The National Medical Commission (NMC) is letting existing medical colleges take in up to 250 MBBS students for the 2026-27 academic year—up from the old limit of 150.

Colleges wanting extra seats need to meet standards for faculty, facilities, and patient load.
The NMC aims to add 75,000 new medical seats over five years.
New colleges can start with 150 students in their first batch, as per current regulations.
Only existing colleges may apply for up to 100 additional seats at a time.
