Fake call center duping Canadians busted by Noida Police

The Noida Police on Thursday said it had busted a fake call center operating from the city and arrested the mastermind for allegedly duping Canadians and other foreign nationals. "The Noida Police and its cyber cell tracked down the con-men, who were offering 'tax benefits' to foreigners in return for money," said Akhilesh Tripathi, Station House Officer, Phase 3 Police Station. Here's more.

Noida Police was working on inputs provided by Canadian police

Working on an input from the Canadian police, the fake call center operating out of Sector 63 was busted by the police. Sahil Verma, the kingpin of the racket, was a resident of Shahdara in Delhi. The police raided the office of the fake call center and seized laptops, computers, wi-fi routers, a mobile phone, and other gadgets used in the fraud, Tripathi said.

The kingpin booked under IPC Section 420

Tripathi said that Verma was sent to jail, while a search was on for the other members of the racket. Verma has been booked under IPC Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and also the relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.
