North Indian schools announce winter breaks as temperatures drop

India

Winter is settling in, and schools across North India are adjusting schedules to keep students safe and warm.
Delhi will have a winter break from December 23 to January 1, though this could shift if the weather or pollution worsens.
In Uttar Pradesh, schools are closing for holidays from December 20-31, and classes for grades 1-8 will start later at 10am to help kids avoid the morning chill.

Other states update school plans

Haryana is expected to announce its vacation dates soon, likely matching Delhi's timeline.
Faridabad's private schools already plan to close from January 1-11.
Jammu and Kashmir students are on break until February for different grades.
Punjab schools will be off from December 24-31, while in Bihar's Patna and Madhubani districts, classes now run from 11am-3:30pm because of the cold snap.
