Unique questions papers planned for competitive exams like JEE, NEET
The new National Testing Agency (NTA) is looking to change how important examinations like JEE Mains, NEET, and UGC NET are conducted in the country. As part of new plans, the NTA hopes to make unique questions papers for each candidate and set multiple dates for examinations. Further, there is also a plan to incorporate software which will pick questions randomly for aspirants.
Next level of exams will include tools like artificial intelligence
Once the candidates are through the easier set of questions, they will be taken to another level. The next level will heavily rely on technology like artificial intelligence, psychometric analysis and computer-based adaptive testing. But what about leaks? After all, this year confirmed nothing is safe. Answering this concern, an official said encryption will be such that hacking it would be impossible.
This new pattern might just make exams more difficult
An official told TOI that to clear the new level students should be thorough with the syllabus. Only coaching won't help. He said there will be multiple choice questions designed to 'fox students'. "With millions of questions to be prepared instead of a couple of question papers, you will be at mercy of software's algorithm which selects random items," the official said.
However, it's not all gloomy for students
Another source said this new system will let students revisit questions. Also if a candidate is not satisfied with the questions, they can choose another date for exams. Those unhappy with their marks can also re-sit for the examination after three months.
Currently, NTA has undertaken psychometric analysis of previous years' questions
Currently, psychometric analysis (a test used to measure the mental capabilities and behavioral style of the candidates) of previous years' questions papers is being done. The goal is three-fold: One to determine the difficulty level of each question. Second to ascertain how multiple choice questions fared. And third to see how the entire question paper functioned. NTA will conduct its first exam in December '18.
