Nurse dies after husband sets her on fire over EMI
Chhanda Roy, a 35-year-old nurse from Cooch Behar, West Bengal, died after her husband allegedly set her on fire during a fight about car EMI payments.
The incident happened on Wednesday night. Neighbors saw Chhanda in distress and rushed her to the hospital, but sadly, she couldn't be saved.
Investigation underway
Chhanda's husband, Ranjit Roy, who also suffered burns, is under police watch in the hospital.
The couple often argued about the car loan that was supposed to support Ranjit's work as a driver.
Although local authorities were aware of their disputes, no official complaints had been made.
Police are now investigating whether it was murder or suicide and will question Ranjit when he recovers.
Meanwhile, their daughter is continuing her studies at a boarding school in Darjeeling as the community comes to terms with this loss.
