Odisha government to give financial aid for Durga Puja

India

Odisha's government is stepping in to support Durga Puja celebrations, offering financial aid to local committees to help keep traditions alive.
Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj shared that eligible groups could get up to ₹1.10 lakh each—a move meant to boost the festive spirit and protect Odisha's cultural roots.

Breakdown of the aid

The aid depends on how long each committee has been around: 215 "Heritage" Pujas will get ₹1.10 lakh, 197 committees over 75 years old receive ₹75,000, and 673 groups older than 50 years get ₹50,000 each.
Altogether, this adds up to support for 1,085 committees across the state—part of a total ₹7.14 crore set aside just for this initiative.
