Omar Abdullah inspects Rajouri flood damage, promises more financial support
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Rajouri to see the aftermath of last month's floods.
He told officials to speed up repairs and look for long-term fixes so this kind of damage doesn't keep happening.
Admitting that current relief isn't enough, he assured families that more financial support is on the way.
Flood-hit families to get 5 marlas
Abdullah said families who lost their homes as well as agricultural land will get five marlas (about 1,361.2 square feet) of government land to rebuild their lives.
He asked local officials to find safe spots and make sure such households get free rations.
Restoring power lines between Rajouri and Poonch is also a priority, along with building roads that can handle future disasters.
Plus, he put a stop to new construction along riverbanks to help prevent repeat damage.
