Over 800 people went missing in Delhi in January
In the first half of January 2026, Delhi saw 807 missing persons cases—meaning about 54 people disappeared every single day.
Most of those reported missing were women and girls (509 cases), while men made up the rest (298).
Minors are a big part of these numbers too, with 191 kids and teens reported missing, including a worrying majority of girls.
Over 70% of missing teenagers haven't been found
Delhi Police have managed to find only 235 out of the 807 missing so far. Among adults, more women remain untraced than men.
The situation is even tougher for teenagers—over 70% haven't been found yet.
Looking back at last year, over 24,500 people went missing in Delhi; most were women and many are still unaccounted for.
The numbers show this isn't a new issue—over 2,32,737 people were reported missing in Delhi over the past decade, with nearly 52,000 cases remaining unresolved.
