Pakistan preparing for winter offensive in Kashmir, say experts

India

Pakistan-backed groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) have stepped up their activities in Jammu & Kashmir over the last six months.
This uptick comes after India's Operation Sindoor in May 2025, which targeted major terror bases across the border.
Since September, there's been a noticeable rise in cross-border infiltrations, drone scouting along the Line of Control, and support from Pakistan's Special Services Group and intelligence agencies.

India on alert as winter approaches

This escalation is happening even though things had been relatively calm locally, showing that Pakistan is trying to stir up trouble in Kashmir while dealing with its own internal issues.
The use of drones and narco-terror funding points to new tactics for reviving local support for militancy.
As winter approaches and risks along the LoC remain high, Indian security forces are staying alert to protect recent gains—reminding us how fragile peace can be in the region.
