Pakistan stops 300 Hindu-Sikh pilgrims from entering for Gurpurab

India

During the big Guru Nanak Dev Ji birth anniversary celebrations, Pakistani officials stopped about 300 travelers, including both Sikhs and Hindus, from entering at the Wagah border—even though over 1,700 Sikh pilgrims were allowed in.
Pakistani authorities had approved over 2,100 visas, but only 1,796 people made it across; some Hindus said they felt singled out because of their religion on travel documents.

Indian officials warn of impact on future pilgrimages

Pilgrims like Amar Chand shared how tough it was to be stopped last minute after clearing immigration and buying tickets.
Indian officials called this move "unprecedented" and warned it might impact future pilgrimages—including for popular routes like the Kartarpur Corridor that many Hindus also use.
All this comes as tensions between India and Pakistan remain high, casting a shadow over what should have been a joyful festival.
