Parag Jain appointed new chief of R&AW

Parag Jain, a senior IPS officer from Punjab, has been named the new head of India's external intelligence agency, R&AW.
He officially takes over on July 1 for a two-year term, succeeding Ravi Sinha.

TL;DR

Challenges along India's borders

Jain steps in at a time when India faces growing security challenges along its borders.
He currently leads R&AW's Aviation Research Center and played a crucial role in Operation Sindoor.
His skills in aerial surveillance and strategic planning are expected to give India's intelligence efforts a timely boost.

Over 2 decades of experience in policing and intelligence

With over 20 years in policing and intelligence, Jain has tackled militancy in Punjab and worked on sensitive assignments abroad—including monitoring Khalistani networks from Sri Lanka and Canada.
He also played an important part during the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir.

Strengthening India's external intelligence setup

Jain will take over from Ravi Sinha, who led R&AW through some tough security situations.
With his strong operational background, Jain is set to strengthen India's external intelligence setup even further.
