Parents of 7-year-old Thoothukudi girl donate organs after brain-stem death

A seven-year-old girl from Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, who was being treated for a brain tumor in Kerala, was declared brain-stem dead at SCTIMST hospital.
In an incredibly tough moment, her parents chose to donate her organs, turning their loss into hope for others.

Her liver and kidneys went to patients at KIMSHEALTH and Medical Trust Hospital; her heart valves were retrieved by SCTIMST for one of their patients, while the corneas were harvested by a team from the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology here.
The Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation coordinated the process.
Kerala's health minister praised the family's courage, saying their decision shows how organ donation can give life even during heartbreak.
