Pathankot surgeon arrested over suspected Red Fort blast links

India

Dr. Rayees Ahmad Bhat, a surgeon from Pathankot, has been detained for questioning after police found he was allegedly in touch with Dr. Umar Nabi—the person behind the car explosion near Delhi's Red Fort that killed 13 people.
Authorities are now looking into whether Dr. Bhat played any role in the attack or was connected to those involved in a "white collar" terror module supported by Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

Why is Dr. Bhat under suspicion?

Dr. Bhat used to work at Al-Falah University in Haryana (2020-21), where Dr. Nabi was also employed.
He's currently teaching at White Medical College in Pathankot but has stayed in touch with staff from his old university—a detail that raised eyebrows for investigators, who suspect there could be a "white collar" terror module supported by Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
For now, questioning is focused on figuring out exactly what part, if any, Dr. Bhat had in the incident.
