PM Modi unveils big boost for tribal communities in Gujarat

India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to announce over ₹9,700 crore in new projects to support tribal communities during his visit to Gujarat's Narmada district for Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.
After checking on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train progress, he visited the Devmogra temple—a key spot for local tribes—before inaugurating the new initiatives.

New schools, homes, and better transport on the way

The plan includes 42 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools and 228 community centers to help with education and local events.
Modi also handed over keys to one lakh new homes built under tribal welfare schemes.
To make getting around easier, he flagged off 250 busses for tribal districts and opened a Tribal Research Institute in Manipur—steps aimed at making life better and opportunities brighter for young people in these communities.
