Pune couple tricked out of ₹14cr by fake spiritual healers

India

A Pune-based IT engineer and his wife were tricked out of nearly ₹14 crore by three people pretending to be spiritual healers.
The scammers—Vedika Pandharpurkar, her husband Kunal, and a so-called guru named Deepak Khadke—claimed they could cure the couple's daughters (one with a mental health disorder, the other with alopecia) through rituals.
The family was persuaded to sell off properties in Pune and the UK, farmland in Konkan, drain their savings, and even took loans against relatives' properties—all for treatments that never worked.

Accused arrested, investigations underway

After realizing they'd been duped, the couple filed a police complaint in early November 2025.
All three accused have now been arrested from Nashik and are in police custody.
Authorities have charged them under laws against black magic and fraud, while the Economic Offences Wing is digging into their finances to see if others might have been targeted too.
The case is still being investigated to ensure justice for the victims.
