Pune man arrested for Al-Qaeda links, had Osama's speech
A 37-year-old software engineer from Pune, Zubair Hangargekar, was arrested by Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for allegedly having ties to Al-Qaeda.
During a raid at his Kondhwa home, officers found digital files, including an Urdu translation of an Osama bin Laden speech delivered on Eid-ul-Fitr, found on his phone, and deleted PDF files related to "al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent."
Phone had contacts from Pakistan, but no calls made
Investigators also found a magazine called "Inspire" with bomb-making instructions and AK-47 training images.
Hangargekar's old phone had contacts from Pakistan and other countries, but no calls were made to them.
The ATS says this case isn't linked to the recent car blast near Delhi's Red Fort. They're also looking into whether he tried to radicalize others locally.
