Pune man kills wife, inspired by Bollywood movie 'Drishyam'
What's the story
In a shocking incident, Pune resident Samir Jadhav has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, Anjali. The crime was premeditated and meticulously planned, inspired by the Bollywood movie Drishyam. Samir had initially reported Anjali missing on October 28 after she left home on October 26 to meet a friend. However, CCTV footage revealed that he accompanied her during this time.
Confession details
Extra-marital affairs and jealousy
During interrogation, Samir confessed to killing Anjali. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam said, "A prima-facie probe has revealed that Samir was having an extra-marital affair." He alleged that Anjali had an affair with another man, leading to frequent quarrels. The investigation also revealed Samir's own involvement in questionable activities, including a trip to Hyderabad where he sent Anjali an "I love you" message from a friend's phone.
Body disposal
The premeditated murder
Samir rented a godown at Shindewadi near Gogalwadi Phata about a month before the murder. He set up a fabrication kiln there and bought wood and fuel for disposal purposes. On October 26, he took Anjali on a pretext of an outing, but instead strangled her at the godown while having bhel together. The body was then burned in the kiln using pre-prepared wood and fuel.
Evidence destruction
FIR filed against Samir
After burning Anjali's body, Samir threw the ashes in a river and dismantled the kiln. Senior Inspector Vishwajeet Kaingade said this murder was meticulously planned as Samir washed the crime scene to destroy evidence. An FIR has been registered against him under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case is now with the Rajgad police station for further investigation.
