Punjab Assembly declares 'holy cities' on Guru Tegh Bahadur's anniversary
India
Punjab's Legislative Assembly just held its first-ever session outside the capital, gathering at Anandpur Sahib to honor the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal joined in, making it a pretty historic moment.
Key highlights from the special session
The Assembly officially declared Anandpur Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, and the Galiara area around the Golden Temple in Amritsar as "holy cities," which means no liquor, meat, or tobacco allowed there now.
Mann shared that this move is about protecting Sikh culture and heritage.
The event also included a heartfelt tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur's sacrifice for religious freedom—plus a 500-drone show lighting up the sky to celebrate his legacy.
