Punjab flood damage estimate revised to ₹12,905 crore

Punjab has revised its flood damage estimate to ₹12,905 crore, down from the earlier ₹13,289 crore, after a detailed review by 14 departments and the agriculture sector.
The biggest drop came from rural development and panchayats, whose claims fell by about ₹1,500 crore.

This updated estimate is key for Punjab to get central government aid and speed up rebuilding after this year's devastating floods.
Over 2,200 villages were hit, crops across nearly two lakh hectares were ruined, and 55 lives were lost.
Getting the numbers right means farmers and affected communities are more likely to receive fair compensation and support as they recover.
