Punjab Police secures 1st-ever European extradition bringing back Amritpal Singh
Punjab Police just pulled off its first-ever extradition from Europe, bringing back Amritpal Singh (also known as Amrit Dalam) from Moldova.
Singh is a key operative of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Gang and faces serious charges such as murder, attempted murder, and drug-related crimes.
Operation Eastern Reach involved international coordination
This six-month mission, called "Operation Eastern Reach," was achieved through coordination between the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab and the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC) Punjab.
They teamed up with authorities in Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Indian agencies to track Singh down.
Punjab DGP hails extradition, thanks partners
Punjab DGP called it a big win against global crime, saying it's proof that Punjab Police is determined to bring fugitives to justice wherever they hide.
He also thanked the Moldovan and Azerbaijani authorities, the International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU)-CBI, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs, and other central agencies involved in the operation.
