Putin's Delhi visit sends luxury hotel prices soaring
With Russian President Vladimir Putin visiting New Delhi this week, five-star hotel rates have jumped to ₹85,000-₹1.3 lakh a night—way up from the usual ₹50,000-₹80,000.
The spike comes as diplomats and big events compete for rooms during Delhi's busy wedding season.
Putin's suite: next-level luxury
Putin is set to stay in ITC Maurya's grand presidential suite—a massive 4,700-square-foot space with two bedrooms, a study, a private dining room for 12, plus its own mini-spa and gym.
The Russian delegation has also booked rooms at the neighboring Taj Palace.
Hotels packed and stepping up their game
Central Delhi hotels like Taj Mahal, Oberoi, and Leela are fully booked this weekend thanks to overlapping diplomatic visits and weddings.
To host high-profile guests safely (and comfortably despite Delhi's air), hotels have boosted security and are factoring in the strength of air purification systems—one more reason behind those sky-high prices.
