Rail fracture slows down Mumbai's Central Line, but not for long

India

A rail fracture on Mumbai's busy Central Railway main line caused delays of 10-20 minutes, according to some commuters, between Vikhroli and Kanjurmarg early Tuesday morning.
With millions relying on these trains every day, officials jumped into action right after the problem was spotted at 7:32am putting safety measures in place and slowing down trains to keep everyone safe.

Fast fix keeps city moving

Repairs wrapped up quickly—by 7:58am trains were running again (though at a slower 30km/h).
To help commuters get where they needed to go, slow trains were rerouted onto the fast line from Matunga.
It was a solid team effort that kept one of Mumbai's busiest lifelines running with barely a hiccup for its 35 lakh daily travelers.
