Red Fort blast: 200+ new CCTV cameras coming after attack

India

After the tragic bombing at Delhi's Red Fort on November 10—which left 15 people dead and about 30 injured—authorities are stepping up security in a big way.
The attack, carried out with an explosive-filled car by Jaish-e-Mohammad, has prompted plans to add over 200 new CCTV cameras, and the parking area may soon also receive its first under-vehicle scanning system (UVSS).

What's changing on the ground?

Right now, there are about 600 cameras near the Red Fort, but gaps in coverage meant they missed spotting the car bomb.
To fix this, more cameras will cover parking areas, and the parking area may soon also receive its first UVSS tech.
The Archaeological Survey of India may also help upgrade security with advanced tech, while local police are working with market associations to boost safety—including more officers (and women cops) in nearby markets.
It's all part of making sure something like this doesn't happen again.
