Resumption of Kedarnath helicopter services announced
Helicopter rides to Kedarnath are back from Tuesday, just days after a heartbreaking crash that took seven lives.
The pause in flights allowed for safety reviews and investigations before services were set to resume.
The accident happened when an Aryan Aviation chopper crashed soon after takeoff on June 15, cutting short a trip for several pilgrims.
Chopper carrying pilgrims crashed in forested area
The helicopter took off early morning but went down within minutes, in the forested area near Gaurikund.
On board were pilgrims—including a two-year-old—from states like Uttarakhand, UP, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
Bad weather and thick fog likely played a role in the crash.
Rescue teams from NDRF and SDRF rushed to the remote spot as soon as they could.
DGCA will keep an extra close watch on operations
After this incident, Aryan Aviation flights have been suspended while investigators look into what went wrong.
The DGCA will keep an extra close watch on all chopper operations in the area now.
Uttarakhand authorities are also pushing for stricter checks and better safety protocols so this doesn't happen again.
