Revanna rape trial witness reports threats to her and son
India
A key prosecution witness in the rape trial against former MP Prajwal Revanna told a Bengaluru court that she's been getting threatening calls and is worried about her and her son's safety.
She fears that if anything happens to her or her son, the accused persons should be held responsible.
Court orders police protection, CID investigates
After hearing her concerns on August 20, 2026, the court ordered police protection for her and asked the CID's Additional Director General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, to investigate these threats.
This comes days after items like a phone and a pen drive were found in Revanna's prison cell.
Revanna, convicted of rape last year, was sentenced to life imprisonment in August 2025 after his arrest in May 2024.
