Rosatom pitches VVER-1200 and SMRs for India's 100GW by 2047
Russian energy giant Rosatom is pitching advanced nuclear tech to help India hit its big goal: 100 gigawatts of nuclear power by 2047.
At the Innoprom. India international industrial exhibition on the margins of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, they showcased the VVER-1200 reactor and small modular reactors.
Right now, Rosatom is the only foreign organization engaged in building nuclear reactors in India at the Kudankulam plant in Tamil Nadu.
Kudankulam already has two running and four more on the way.
Rosatom announces distribution agreement and MOU
Rosatom's Kirill Komarov talked about working closely with Indian companies to boost digitalization and upgrade energy facilities.
New deals with Syngient Technologies and EM Services include a distribution agreement for the Repeat Vision software platform and an MOU for cooperation in the energy sector, including the digitalisation of power plants and the maintenance, reconstruction and modernisation of energy facilities.
It all fits into India's Make in India push for self-reliance. Kudankulam remains a key symbol of this partnership.
