Saheli Smart Cards: Free bus rides for Delhi women
Delhi just rolled out the Saheli Smart Card—a digital pass that lets women and transgender people (12+) ride DTC and Cluster busses for free.
It replaces the old pink paper tickets, aiming to make travel smoother, safer, and less prone to misuse.
How to get your Saheli Smart Card
Apply online via the DTC portal, pick a partner bank, and finish KYC with documents like Aadhaar, PAN, proof of address, and a passport photo.
Once you're verified at the bank branch, your card gets delivered straight to your home.
The card also works for other transport
The card is part of India's National Common Mobility Card system—so while it unlocks free bus rides in Delhi, you can also recharge it for other transport.
Just remember: activate it before use and expect a small fee from the bank.
Lost your card? No worries—the issuing bank will help replace it.
This move is all about making city travel easier and more inclusive.
