SC to hear PIL questioning #AyodhyaVerdict delay on 4 January

The Supreme Court on Monday has reportedly agreed to hear on 4 January a PIL questioning the delay in judgment on the Ayodhya Ram Mandir issue. The PIL also requested the SC to hear the temple-mosque dispute case on an urgent basis, in a time-bound manner. The matter will reportedly be taken up by a bench led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi.

SC to take up batch of petitions for hearing

The PIL that has questioned the delay in the adjudication of the Ayodhya temple-masjid matter is one among the batch of petitions the top court is scheduled to take up for hearing in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case on 4 January.

14 petitions filed against Allahabad HC verdict

The Ayodhya matter is listed in the apex court before a bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice SK Kaul. The Supreme Court is, however, likely to set up a bench - comprising three judges - for the hearing of 14 pleas filed against the verdict of Allahabad High Court in four civil suits in the matter.

    The Allahabad High Court judgement

The Allahabad High Court in 2010 had ruled that the disputed 2.77-acre land in Ayodhya be divided equally among the three parties: Ram Lalla (represented by Hindu Maha Sabha, for the Ram temple construction), the Sunni Waqf Board, and Nirmohi Akhara.

Government wants matter to be heard on day-to-day basis: Javadekar

Separately, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar today said that the Center wants the court to hold a day-to-day basis hearing on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit. "The government wants the Ram Temple matter to be heard on a day to day basis so that this issue is resolved at the earliest," said the Union HRD Minister at a press conference in New Delhi.
