Senior IAS D Suresh named in 3.5 cr Gurugram scam
Just days before retirement, senior IAS officer D Suresh and eight others have been named in a ₹3.5 crore land scam in Gurugram by Haryana's Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The FIR says a government plot worth crores was transferred for just ₹6.71 lakh, way below its actual value, leading to big losses for the state.
D Suresh allegedly used forged documents
The plot was originally allotted back in 1988 but taken back by authorities in 2002 after payment issues.
Fast forward to 2019, Suresh, as Chief Administrator of HSVP, allegedly helped push through an undervalued deal using forged documents to reverse the earlier default status.
Now, he faces charges including corruption and forgery along with eight others.
HC bars arrest of D Suresh
Suresh has been granted interim relief by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, meaning he cannot be arrested without seven days' notice until his next hearing on October 16.
