On Republic Day, Domino's delivered pizzas to soldiers at Siachen

For Indian Army soldiers posted at the Siachen glacier in Jammu and Kashmir, Republic Day turned out to be a surprise as they received piping hot pizza from a famed fast food company. Situated at 20,000ft, Siachen is the world's highest battleground, but that did not stop Domino's Pizza from sending a team there to treat jawans to pizza on Republic Day. Here's more.

    Soldiers really appreciated the gesture

In photos shared on Domino's India's Twitter page, Indian Army soldiers can be seen lining up for their pizzas, and others can be seen enjoying their special Republic Day treat. In another video, soldiers are seen digging into their pizza, and one soldier is heard saying, "It's very good." Others expressed their gratitude by giving a thumbs up gesture.

We are honoured to have served hot Domino’s pizzas to our brave Soldiers and Officers at Siachen as a gesture of our gratitude for their untiring service to the nation.#DominosinSiachen #Republicday2019 #Dominos pic.twitter.com/DhrwEjCekW

The gesture was appreciated across social media

Given the fact that soldiers posted at Siachen glacier endure extreme altitudes and temperatures as low as minus 60 degrees Celsius, the gesture by Domino's was a heart-warming one. Twitterati and netizens, too, appreciated the pizza delivery chain's Republic Day gesture, with many saying that they would now become permanent customers of Domino's. Domino's replied humbly, saying it was their pleasure.

One netizen pledges loyalty to Domino's after the delivery

Amazing! As a mark of gratitude now pizzas only from Dominos for me. #respect
