Siddhivinayak Temple set for ₹100-Crore makeover

Mumbai's iconic Siddhivinayak Temple area is about to see a major upgrade.
BMC has greenlit a ₹100 crore redevelopment, spread over three phases, to make visiting smoother and more comfortable—without touching the temple's sacred core.
Work kicks off later this month once final approvals are in.

TL;DR

Phase 1 tackles crowding and parking

Phase one tackles the biggest pain points: crowding and parking.
Two underground parking lots are coming up, plus the temple's exterior is getting a facelift with marble carvings, new flooring, and a redesigned main entrance called Siddhi Gate.
This phase alone eats up most of the budget and needs final clearance from Metro authorities before timelines are set.

Phase 2 adds more security checkposts

Phase two brings in a facilitation center for managing footfall and adds more security checkposts.
There'll also be a brand-new entrance—Riddhi Gate—on Kakasaheb Gadgil Marg, echoing Lord Ganesha's consorts alongside Siddhi Gate.
The whole project aims to wrap up within 12 months of starting work.
